Q. I'm at first-fix, what wiring do i need
to put in to accommodate electric blinds?
A. This appears to be simple question but depends on a number of factors,
generally we would suggest you install a run of 4 core (3 core + earth) 0.75mm
white flex to each
window, run back to a central area where a control panel can be installed. If
you intend to have more than one blind (eg electric roller & electric
curtain) then you would need two 4 core cables at each window. If your in
doubt, please contact us and we can arrange for a site-visit or advice over
the phone.
Q. I am an integrator, can i control your
blinds directly from my own automation system?
A. If you system has AC & DC motor controls or configurable
'generic' relay actuators then yes, our blinds use plain AC or DC motors which
can be switched with relay outputs.
Q. I am an integrator, i prefer not to
control 3rd party devices directly on my control system, what means do you
have to allow control between my main system and the intelli-blinds devices.
A. We find that increasing numbers of integrators are preferring to opt
for a complete custom control sub-system for the blinds. Our Blindtronics
actuators allow us to build self-contained panels that can be simply
controlled via RS232 from other systems.
Q. Do you have a list of compatible AV,
Lighting & Automation systems that are known to be able to control your
blinds?
A. Yes, please see this list.
Q. Can i operate multiple 240v AC motors
from one switch or relay?
A. No, 240v AC motors can not be wired in parallel, 240v AC motors must be
either switched by individual switches or relays. We realise that for
connection to home automation and switches being able to create a single ring
to operate multiple blinds may reduce the amount of wiring and mean you need
less relay modules but you simply can't do it as the motors will interfere
with each other, if you would like a detailed explanation please read this
document.
Q. Can i operate your blinds from my iPad or
iPhone?
A. Yes, using Blindtronics. We expect to make an announcement when this
feature is available.
Q. I want some bespoke blinds or curtains,
who supplies and makes up the complete blind?
A. We are very flexible, we can take customers fabric and manufacture the
entire blind or we can supply fabrics from our own large range of fabrics. If
you would prefer to have your own blind maker create the actual cover then we
can advise them how to ensure it works properly with our blind hardware.
